The moon bounce stuff is pretty trippy. I have never done that but I did use an amateur satellite once. And that itself is kinda cool because you have to track that thing through the sky with a yagi like it is some sort of world war II ballistic -- which it basically is.
There's too much deep listening on here to hear, so I only stuck my toe in. The cave dripping sounds were pretty cool I can see how it is used in meditative practices.
That’s cool you’ve done amateur satellites. I’d like to add that my list of modes worked. I did work a new radio band last week, 900 Mhz. One of my cousins and ham radio buddies works for Mobilcom and I think they had some radios headed to the scrap heap. He saved one and programmed it for me.
Yeah, I put in a lot of different stuff because there is so much to explore. I guess I would say pick one album and go deep. Troglodyte’s Delight is a delight. My favorite ones for meditation would be Deep Listening or Underground Overlays from the Cistern Chapel.
Sort of a synchronicity, I've been exploring and practicing Oliveros' concept of deep listening with my modular noise synth lately! One of my favorite pieces of hers is No Mo (1966). Almost proto-harsh noise. I will have to give her full acoustic pieces a listen.
She could definitely throw down on the noise! I don’t know if I have heard that one in particular, but yeah, her early pieces explored, and some of the later ones had some powerful dissonance, but the focus on dronality tended to soothe. I definitely recommend the acoustic stuff… and there is so much more to explore beyond my round up.
Well, my weekend listening is now spoken for! Thanks so much for putting these together, Justin, they're always great for Bandcamp Fridays. :)
I really appreciate that James! I’ll be curious which of those you might like or speak to you.
